disappointed in that respect. I have already applied twice without any result, in my first application I was highly recommended by Mr. Kemp, and in my recent application Mr. Wakeman said all he could for me, also without result. I would like to draw Your Excellency's attention to C.S.0.4014 of 1910 the Hon. Rees Davies' commendation to the Government re my interpretation during Your Excellency's absence last year, / after he relinquished the post of acting Chief Justice, in a case which lasted 52 sitvings and was the hardest and most complicated case ever tried in the Supreme Court. The Hon. Dr. Ho Kai who was one of the four Barristers in the case can also be referred to. During the whole of my 21 years service I have only had 4 months' vacation leave and 8 months half pay leave, with the exception of about 3 months accumulated sick leave, I have had no other leave whatever.
Having now stated the whole of the circunstances of my case to Your Excellency I sincerely trust that Your Excellency will grant me my request so that I may get my maximum at the end of 6 years instead of being compelled to wait fifteen years for it, at the same time taking into consideration my 21 years honest and faithful service and that before my
present appointment for a period of 18 years I practically
only @t one increase of $25. I may also say that during the
whole of my service I have not had anything against my
character.
Before Your Excellency comes to a final decision in my case I would crave Your Excellency to have an interview with Messrs. Clementi, Kemp, Wakeman and Melbourne, also the
Hon. Dr. Ho Kai.
Again trusting that Your Excellency will take a
favourable view of my case.
I have the honour to be,
Sir
Your obedient servant,
Astrolan
